At Premier Loft Ladders we are proud of our strong track record as a champion of sustainable and energy efficient products.
Sustainability and the environment is at the heart of our business and it informs everything we do – from the suppliers we use, the specialist products we offer, the projects and architects we work with and our consultancy process.
Our loft ladders are designed for sustainability, functionality, endurance and aesthetics
We specialise in highly insulated loft ladders and loft products and 95 percent of our products are manufactured in Germany and Austria to the highest specifications and have been designed to perform in cold winters and warm summers. We offer a range of products that are certified by the Passive House Institute for use in passive buildings.
Our loft ladders and all our loft products are all designed for sustainability, functionality, endurance and aesthetics.
We believe it is our responsibility to offer loft ladders (and doors) that create loft spaces that we can be proud of, and which will improve the lives and health of future generations.
As part of our commitment to sustainable design:
- We only work with suppliers who have a strong sustainability policy – which we define as a commitment to embrace improved energy performance, and the use of design methods and materials that are not detrimental to the surrounding ecosystem or communities.
- We are committed to the responsible sourcing of all products in our supply chain. Most of the wood used in our products is sourced from sustainable forests in Eastern Europe.
- We consciously choose to expand our most sustainable ranges – including most notably our range of Passive House certified loft ladders.
- We ensure maximum insulation and energy efficiency in any product we supply.
- When we consult on specialist projects, we try to keep site visits to a minimum to keep our own carbon footprint as low as possible. Where appropriate, we may employ the services of an experienced specialist local to the site to minimise travel while still supporting customer needs.
- We work to offset the carbon within our product range. The manufacture and delivery of ladders can be carbon intensive due to the processes involved. At Premier Loft Ladders, we work to offset this in various ways.
- Firstly, we insist on enhanced durability of products, negating the need for frequent replacements. For example, most of our ladders have an expected service life of at least 30 years with correct installation and maintenance. All our products have a warranty – including up to 10-year part warranty.
- Secondly, we have signed up to a tree-planting and peatland restoration scheme run by Forest Carbon. As well as helping to remove carbon from the atmosphere, this scheme also helps to encourage greater biodiversity and mitigate flooding throughout their projects within the UK and Ireland. In addition, the scheme also supports Verra certified forest creation projects in South America and Indonesia.
- We use a bank that has signed up to Bank.Green, which means that it is not funding the extraction of fossil fuels.
- We encourage the use of low impact transport for travel to and from our offices and for any business travel. Furthermore, we use public transport to attend meetings wherever possible.
