Steel loft ladders
Steel loft ladders are particularly well suited for commercial and industrial buildings, but also a good option for more demanding residential projects. Premier Loft Ladders offer a selection of heavy-duty steel loft ladders. What’s more, all of these (except for the LMF) are finished in an attractive and durable white powder coat finish. They are available in either standard dimensions, or can be made-to-measure. Also, most come with at least 30-minutes of fire-protection.

Why buy a steel loft ladder?
Steel loft ladders provide one of the best solutions where strength is the primary concern. Steel is inherently a strong, dense material, therefore a loft ladder made from this material will typically offer higher load-ratings than their wooden or aluminium counter-parts. Steel loft ladders can also be manufactured in longer lengths than wooden ladders, while still maintaining their rigidity.
Another benefit is that steel is non-combustible, so is good for fire resistance. Therefore, many fire-rated loft ladders will feature a steel ladder and hatch box. Hence, many of the steel products offered by Premier Loft Ladders offer at least 30 minutes of fire-protection.
What are the disadvantages of steel loft ladders?
The biggest problem with steel loft ladders are their weight. This can make some steel ladders harder to extend and retract, so make sure to choose a product that offers fully counter-balanced operation (all of the ladders on this page offer fully-assisted operation). Also, the weight of the ladder and hatch box may necessitate that the ceiling opening is structurally reinforced – consult with a building professional or structural engineer if you feel that this may be a concern.
