The challenge…
Premier Loft Ladders were contacted by Artisan Loft Ladders, who needed a vertical wall access ladder for one of their clients. The customer had purchased a recently built house with no loft access – the original opening having been boarded over. As such, they wanted to open up the loft space and board the area to make use of the wasted space. A high-quality, durable ladder was needed.
What made the project more challenging was the fact the loft hatch was positioned on a vertical wall, as opposed to a regular horizontal ceiling position. Furthermore, the hatch was 3m from the floor.

The Solution…
Artisan Loft Ladders realised that they needed a specialist ladder to meet their client’s brief, so contacted Premier Loft Ladders for assistance. The Supreme Vertical was quickly identified as the perfect loft ladder for the project. This high-performance vertical wall access ladder is suitable for ceiling heights up to 3.39m, so could easily achieve the 3m height that was required. Furthermore, the hatch box is made-to-measure, so the unusual aperture measurements of 985mm x 695mm were no problem at all.

The Supreme Vertical features a heavy-duty concertina ladder. However, it is carefully-counterbalanced to ensure that it can be opened and closed with a minimum of effort. In addition, the aluminium components ensure that that the loft ladder is durable and will last for many years of regular use with minimum maintenance.
The results…
Artisan loft ladders erected a small tower to prepare the aperture, lift-up the Supreme Vertical and then secure it into place. Because the hatch box is made-to-measure, it fit within the structural timbers of the wall. The installation gap is then filled with an insulating material and the trim is clipped to the hatch box frame.
Despite the heavy-duty construction of the ladder, it is very easy to use, as can be seen in the video below…
